Anguilla is a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. It is located directly North of Saint Martin, and East of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. It is only about 16 miles long and 3 miles wide, so you might just miss it if you didn't know where it is! Surrounded by beautiful beaches, the snorkeling, swimming, and relaxing are what make it so popular. There are embargos on large cruise ships, tall skyrise buildings and casinos, so the island has a very authentic feel unlike any other in the well known Caribbean. Average temperatures for the time of the wedding will be high 80s, and lows in the low 80s. You won't need anything but shorts, sandals, and sunscreen!
Anguilla just recently started accepting direct flights, but they are only from limited US based airports. Specifically, you can take a direct flight from Miami
There are no rideshare apps (Uber, Lyft, etc) in Anguilla, however there are good 'ol fashioned cab rides. They can be hailed on any main roadway and by any business you are at. Most of the activities for the wedding/reception/rehearsal dinner will be within literal walking distance of the resort, so if you are close by, you won't have to travel by cab much at all unless you want to explore the island more.
PASSPORT! Don't forget that.
You will have at least one layover depending on your flight, and it will probably be in Miami. That airport, in our experience, is almost always behind on times and busy. Make sure you give yourself decent time between flights, although the layover should take care of that on its own.
Anguilla currently is taking direct flights in, but only from select airports. You will almost surely need to have a transfer/layover at one of those airports to fly directly in. This would still be the easiest, but will make your travel day longer. Miami is the largest that you will have to go through to get a direct flight.
You can fly in to St. Martin and either take a ferry or small plane flight over to Anguilla, but this will increase your travel cost. MOST hotels and resorts will provide a ferry/boat from St. Martin, so if you don't stay at The Four Seasons, ASK YOUR ACCOMODATIONS if they provide ferry/boat rides.
Absolutely! If people coordinate flights, then ferries/boats will be even easier to get you to where you are going. If you can let us know when you book, we can try and help coordinate everyone to make it as easy as possible.
